Transforming our working culture is an easy to read and timely treatment of the all important subject of cultural transformation, passionately presented out of years of experience and study of God’s Word. Stemming from the Day of Special Studies annual seminar at Kabwata Baptist Church that began more than twenty years ago, it is one of the many lessons that scratches where it is really itching in the development of Christianity in Zambia. Christianity is not there primarily to change culture, but wherever it has gone culture has changed for the better. People have prized knowledge and education where previously there was no interest in such pursuits. Real and lasting development in all areas of life has resulted from this. Freedom and beauty have been appreciated resulting in life on earth being a slice of heaven. Yet, despite Christianity being in sub-Saharan Africa for over one century, this is not happening or is taking place at a painfully slow pace. Why is this so? Dr. Mbewe answers this question and gives wonderful practical examples on how to apply biblical principles in subduing the earth. Ultimately, he simply challenges us to be like God.
